Tired of 'Liking' Things on Facebook? Here Are Six New Emoji Reactions

A screenshot of “Reaction” emoji on Facebook. (Photo courtesy of Facebook)

The ubiquitous “Like” button is no longer the only way to react to a Facebook  post.

The social media giant announced on Thursday that it will be testing six new ways to respond to Facebook posts or comments, unveiling emoji reaction icons for “love,” “yay,” “haha,” “wow,” “angry” and “sad.” The “Reactions” are alternatives to the thumbs-up “Like” button, originally built in 2007 as an “awesome” button, and are aimed at making it easier for users to quickly express a range of emotions.

ways your company can benefit from social media.

Social media helps enhance all the basic pillars of good business, such as engaging with the public, converting on-the-fence onlookers into revenue-generating clients, and addressing customer service issues.
Here are some of the biggest upsides to social media:

Customer engagement. Social media is conversational in nature, so people want to talk. Reach out, and you’ll be pleased with the results.

Revenue creation. Social media expands your exposure, increases traffic to your site, creates interest in what you sell, and gives you the opportunity to offer promotions or specials to seal the deal.

Building loyalty. Customers are more likely to stay with your brand if they trust you. Social media can enhance this like photos of your office gives a glimpse of your business to customers .

Search engine optimization. As much as word-of-mouth works, many people go straight to Google to search for what they need. Having active accounts on various social media sites can help place your company higher in page rankings and more likely to show up in a search.

How to use Linkedin to grow your business social media presence

When you have thousands of employees and millions of customers worldwide, it’s helpful to have one large “hub” where you can house all job openings, company information and updates on LinkedIn. Now, if you’re a small or midsize business, LinkedIn company pages can still be valuable, but it depends in large part on how you use them.

How LinkedIn company pages work

If you haven’t explored this avenue yet, LinkedIn company pages are free to set up and essentially serve as an extension of your company website.
You’re able to post job openings, links to company news and blog posts, create “showcase pages” highlighting certain departments or service offerings and more.
Also, LinkedIn will automatically reroute people who click on your company name or logo on the LinkedIn platform to the attached company page. It will also allow your company to become “discoverable” inside of LinkedIn’s search box and on Google and other search engines.

Getting helpful feedback from your clients on social media

There are 47 newspaper publications in Nigeria. 50 online newspapers and 83 million internet users (according to statistics)

When you include broadcast media (television and radio) – most of which are broadcasting 24 hours daily, it’s no wonder that organizations that have a presence in the media find it impossible to keep track of it all.

#BlackFriday And The Nigerian Experience. Did You Get Any "Deals"?

Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States (the fourth Thursday of November), and it’s regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. On Black Friday, most major retailers open very early and offer promotional sales to kick off the holiday shopping season.
Black Friday is gradually gaining some momentum in Nigeria especially with eCommerce, and the resulting boom in online shoppers. Online retailers like Jumia, Konga and DealDey jumped into the Black Friday sales galore and dedicated shoppers and opportunistic customers rushed online to take advantage of the deals.
However, the Nigerian factor soon kicked in and the result is the mixed reactions on social media. Check out what some customers tweeted below and feel free to share your own Black Friday experience.

Will Your Company's Social Media Efforts Pay Off?

"Here’s a few social media truisms that many brands simply don’t want to hear.
1.      Social media success takes time. Don’t expect overnight success. While customers increasingly expecting an almost instantaneous response to their inquiries, generating a worthwhile return on investment (ROI) requires considerable effort and patience.

2.      Social media success takes resources. Do you have someone with several hours of quality time per week available to dedicate to your social strategy?

3.      Social media success takes you out of your comfort zone. Are you prepared to share other people’s content in your social channels – even that of your competitors? Are you will to engage with other people and open conversations? Do you create original content that other people will want to share? Are you able to handle and respond to public criticism and customer complaints?

Be sure you’re ready before you commit. Customers expect a response, and a ghost town of a social media profile is not a good sign to anyone who comes looking to learn about or engage with your brand.

According to Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel, ads are coming soon to the app.

The CEO also said the ads would not be targeted and users can choose whether or not they want to view the ads.
Meanwhile, some days ago, the WSJ reported that Yahoo and Snapchat have been having talks, which might lead to SnapChat getting some funding from Yahoo. Exactly how much is however unspecified.

Media Clampdown: China blocks Instagram!

China has a history of tightening its censorship of internet services during times of political upheaval, and it’s happening again with the pro-democracy protests underway in Hong Kong. Observers have reported that the country has blocked access to Instagram on the mainland, most likely to prevent images of the demonstrations from spreading beyond Hong Kong (where Instagram is still working).
Before this ban, Instagram was one of the few foreign social networks that operated freely in the area. Instagram hasn’t released full details yet, (as of the filing of this report) but it's safe to presume that China won't lift its restrictions so long as the protests continue -- and it won't be surprising if this ultimately proves to be a permanent ban.

Your Business On Facebook: Engage Your Customers With Photos.

If your business has a Facebook page (and why shouldn’t it?) tell your story and engage with your customers (and would-be customers) with creative photos that enhances your brand.
According to social media examiner, Photo posts account for 93% of the most engaging posts on Facebook. They can get 53% more likes, 104% more comments and 84% more click-throughs on links than text-based posts!
So make it fun, make it catchy and make sure it makes a bold statement that drives home the message!
Check out these examples..

12 Steps to Master Social Media - By REBEKAH RADICE

1. Choose Your Channel

Facebook, Google Plus, and other social networks allow you to interact with potential clients. You can also find your next job, shop, sell, buy, auction and exchange just about anything you can think of.
No matter your reason for using social media, make sure you choose your main networks wisely.
Choose one or two social networks that allow for the greatest exposure and then use them daily. We all know time is money. There’s no sense in starting something if you’re not going to consistently stick around.

  2. Define Your Target Market

Do you know who your target audience is? Have you identified your specific area of expertise?
Don’t try to cater to everyone by being all things to all people. If you want to reach the right audience, your content should be hyper-specific. Write your posts and speak directly to their wants, needs and desires.

  3. Share Appealing Content

Sharing content in an appealing way is tougher than it seems. How often have you stumbled on a post or tweet that left you shaking your head at an opportunity lost?
Share interesting, relevant and insightful content and share it often. This is the single best way to establish your expertise and credibility.
You have knowledge others need. Give it away freely!
