Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States (the
fourth Thursday of November), and it’s regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. On Black Friday,
most major retailers open very early and offer promotional sales to kick off
the holiday shopping season.
Black Friday is gradually gaining some momentum in Nigeria
especially with eCommerce, and the resulting boom in online shoppers. Online
retailers like Jumia, Konga and DealDey jumped into the Black Friday sales
galore and dedicated shoppers and opportunistic customers rushed online to take
advantage of the deals.
However, the Nigerian factor soon kicked in and the result is
the mixed reactions on social media. Check out what some customers tweeted
below and feel free to share your own Black Friday experience.
This Black Friday is hmmph!, Jumia is useless, Konga's site is jamming, Dealdey is all sold out and now every shopping mall is freakin' full

@JumiaNigeria's failure to excite shoppers with its #JumiaBlackFriday worked in favour of @ShopKonga - It's not about noise - Be proactive

#jumiaBlackFriday isn't a scam. It's simply a case of fastest finger first.

Jumia Black Friday sales was supposed to start by 12am. Every deal that is there right now was there last week. What's the difference?
